Living Income, defined as the “ …net annual income required for a household in a particular place to afford a decent standard of living for all household members” is a new concept to evaluate fair prices and wages.
To monitor living income, actual net income has to be calculated and a benchmark for “decent living” defined (following the approach of Martha and Richard Anker (2017) or e.g. the World Bank poverty line). The development of the benchmark, calculations of the actual income and subsequent monitoring requires detailed data on a farm household level.
